From July to Christmas, I debated and debated whether to Nook or Kindle.  Then came Christmas and my children decided for me.  They clubbed together and got me the Kindle 3G…………….. I LOVE IT!!  I decided I was going to have to get an ereader as I am developing arthritis in my hands and it gets aggravated by holding books.  I read a great deal so it gets really aggravated!  The only problem with the Kindle is how much money one can end up spending without realizing just HOW much.  I search through the Kindle Storefront, download a sample – just like browsing in a library or bookshop – and then highlight BUY and and BUY and BUY………. I don’t even want to confess how much money I have spent since last December.  It’s certainly more than I would have spent going to a bookshop.  I do still prefer books, though.  There is nothing like the anticipation that comes with opening the cover of a new, eagerly anticipated, book and diving in.

One good thing:  The Kindle has broken me of my lifelong habit of reading the last page of a book first……… HO HUM!

To Kindle Or Nook To Kindle….

I am a voracious reader and a compulsive collector of books.  When I am not working online, I am curled up somewhere with my nose stuck in a book…. Some years ago, I learned that The Library of Congress was involved in a huge project putting all their books online.  That was when I realised that at some not-so-distant time, there will be no more books just books on computer YICK!

Then Amazon produced the Kindle, their e-book reader and Barnes and Noble produced the Nook.  A young friend, a fellow bookworm, is going to be traveling overseas and came for a visit to say goodbye.  With her came her Kindle.  She had realised that she couldn’t cart her extensive physical library with her, so did some research and decided to buy the Kindle.  She let me play with it and read some pages and, although I hate to admit it, I was impressed.

Another friend of mine has invested in the Nook and waxes lyrical in its praise.  She is not planning on traveling overseas and as she loves Barnes and Noble, this was the obvious choice for her.  I took a look at the Nook just this past weekend and I like it too.

I now know what I have to do….. Buy a Kindle and a Nook because I love both Amazon and Barnes and Noble and this way Jen and Kate won’t be mad at me…….

I am absolutely thrilled to have discovered two fellow countrymen, both with awesome training products to boost your online marketing career.  The first is  Dean Holland.  Dean is an extremely successful Internet Marketer from the North of England and the mastermind of  his Starting With  Marketing Academy and, along with Adam Spiel,  Turbo Traffic System.  The second is George Brown, a young man from the South of England, who became a “Super Affiliate” in under two years and is the  mastermind behind Google Sniper and Traffic Ultimatum.  Both of these gentlemen offer free trainings, but I can highly recommend their paid courses if you are serious about an online career in marketing.

I have found that THE major stumbling block to a successful internet career “launch” is the overwhelming number of  Gurus, all touting THEIR method to wealth and success…. along with the “hype” that accompanies THEIR method.  The MOST annoying thing about researching all these Gurus, apart from wasted time, are the number of their websites you visit, and the long, long pages with pure hype and little substance!  When you try to leave the page you are confronted with the endless, mind-numbing “don’t leave”, “hit cancel to stay”, “special offer”, “special price”, one after the other.  I know, and appreciate, that these tactics can be good marketing but PLEASE!!! -  One such site took me eight, I repeat, EIGHT of these “OK or Cancel” boxes to finally get out of there!! And, last but not least, don’t let us forget the special price which will change forever if you don’t pay it RIGHT NOW! There’s a word for this, but, British lady that I am, I will restrain myself (for once) and not use it.

There are mountains of free resources on the internet to help any aspiring Internet Marketer.  The problem is separating the wheat from the chaff.  It’s worth exploring Gurus and their different methods, but don’t buy anything until you have a really good idea of what direction to go in.  Research that Guru. Find Forums where you can ask questions.  One of the best for both newbies and oldies is The Warrior Forum.  Go – sign up and start your adventure there…

I am a 52 year old transplanted Brit, who married a Yank 23 years ago!  I live in Connecticut on the Long Island Sound with my husband and two children.  When we first married, we made the decision that I would stay home and have the children raise me!  This has worked out very well in the “raising” department, but not so well as far as finances go…..

I turned to the internet some time ago as a means to earn an honest living and be my own boss.  This has been a very interesting adventure and the best part of it has been the amazing friendships I have made with a group of wonderful women.  As each one of us learns a new technique, it is shared with all of us.  If one of us discovers an interesting blog, we pass on the link to the others…. and so our collective knowledge and information treasure trove grows and grows.

I still find it hard to believe that a woman who would rather hold a book in her hands is spending the greater part of each day typing away at her keyboard.  Modern technology had to catch up with even me at some stage……
